In this series I'm excited to be spotlighting some of my favorite Black owned businesses. These are brands I admire, shop from and always recommend to friends and family. Here's a short Q&A with the owner, Nicole!
What was the inspiration behind starting TBT?
I started TBT because I recognized a need for pro black designs within the small shop community. I had recently lost my job due to debilitating PPD and I needed both a creative outlet and some money. We put some designs that were important to our family on some shirts and the rest is history.
How has the journey been?
It’s been great! 2.5 years in and both myself and my husband work full time for TBT. It’s been a ride. We’ve made some mistakes but we love it.
What do you hope your customers learn/gain from your products?
I hope they inspire important conversations that spark real change.
What’s your favorite product?
Definitely our hair clips. I can’t wait until my daughter gets some hair to wear them lol
Anything new we can look forward to?
Yes! Not spilling the beans yet but lots of new products are coming in 2021.
